Anhinga Basic Facts

Anhinga's are birds that live in northern South America and southern North America. Their scientific name is Anhinga Anhinga. They weigh about 1.04- 1..35 kg (2.3- 3 lb) and are about 75- 95 cm (30- 37 in) long. Some of their nicknames are Snakebird, Darter, American Darter, and Water Turkey. In the language Brazilian Tupi, Anhinga means the devil bird.. Their feathers are brown and grey. They have a lifespan of 11 years and they eat shrimp and frog eggs.
