Angelfish Basic Facts

Angelfish are fish that live in tropical South America. Their scientific name is Pterophyllum. They eat small fish and macro-invertebrates because they're carnivores. Angelfish are the most common fish in most aquariums. They stay in temperatures between 23- 25 degrees Celsius (74- 78 degrees Fahrenheit). This species of fish became being put in captivity in the late 1920's. Some of the different varieties of Angelfish are silver, gold, zebra, black lace, smokey, and chocolate. They weigh about 1.6 kg (3.5 lb) and are around 25.4 cm (10 in).
