The acouchi is a mammal part of the rodent family. It's scientific name is Myoprocta. There are two main species of the acouchi: The red acouchi and the green acouchi. This rodent is sometimes called agoutis. The red acouchi's scientifc name is Myoprocta Acouchy and the green acouchi's scientific name is Myoprocta Pratti. This mammal lives in northern South America. One of it's features is it has greenish- brown fur with bright orange and red spots on it's head. They live along riverbanks, where they dig their holes for shelter. They eat fruit and are active during the day. The red acouchi is 38.6 cm- 46.8cm (1.2 ft- 1.5ft) long and weighs about 1.05 kg- 1.45 kg (2.3 lb- 3.11 lb). The green acouchi is a little bit smaller. It weighs about 0.8 kg- 1.2 kg (28.2 oz- 42.3 oz) and is about 29.8 cm- 38.3 cm (11.7in- 1.2 ft) long.
