Axolotl Basic Facts

An Axolotl is an amphibian that is nicknamed the walking fish. Their scientific name is Ambystoma Mexicanum. They live in Lake Xochimilco and Lake Chalco, next to Mexico City. Axolotl's eat worms, insects, small fish, and salamanders. They weigh 3.6 kg (8 lb) and are about 30 cm (12 in) long. Because of what they eat, they're Carnivore's. The colour of their scales are white with pink frills sticking out of their heads. These amphibians have a lifespan of 10- 15 years.
