Avocet Basic Facts

An Avocet is a bird that weighs between 225- 400 g (7.9- 14.1 oz). Their scientific name is Recurvirostra. There are 4 different species of Avocet's. They live in Europe, Australia, Asia, and the Pacific coast of North America. These birds are about 42- 46 cm (16.5- 18.1 in) in length. Avocet's eat insects and crustaceans, which makes them Carnivore's. They have white, black, brown, and a beige head. They have a 7 year lifespan.
