Anteater Basic Facts

An Anteater is a mammal that, like it says in it's name, eats ants and termites too. Their scientific name is Vermilingua. The 4 species of Anteater's are the Giant Anteater, Silky Anteater, Collared Anteater, and Northern Anteater. They live in South and Central America. Anteater's weigh about 33- 41 kg (72- 90 lb) and are about 1.8- 2.2 m (5.9- 7.2 ft) long. Their fur colour is black and brown with a bit of white. Because they eat ants and termites, they are Carnivores. They have a lifespan of 16 years.
